The idea that we will never die and that we can live forever seems like a great idea. Unfortunately, the truth is that we will all eventually die and we will all experience pain and suffering. However, there is a key difference between the way we behave and the way we experience our lives. When we die, we go to sleep and do not wake up.
We do not wake up again until the day we are resurrected. As such, our behavior has no bearing on our ultimate fate. In some cases, our behavior may have had some impact on our destiny but it is more likely that our behavior was just a result of circumstances.
In contrast, those of us who experience life do so as a consequence of our actions. The events of life have an effect on us as individuals and as a society because those actions leave a mark on us as people. Our actions define us as individuals but it is not inevitable that those actions define us as a people.
